In July of this year the World Masters Games were held in Edmonton. Being a very athletic bunch and pretty "experienced" it's natural that Saracens would have some representation at these games. Two Saracens were there. Norm Wegerhoff, deadly goal-scorer for the Toos and lunch organizer extraodinaire was in the squash competition while Wilf Rodrigues, no longer playing hockey but still keeping an eye on the club, entered in the athletics. Congratulations to the both of them!
Wilf was kind enough to send in a short outline of his experiences at the games.
I have just returned from the 2005 World Masters Games held in Edmonton during the last 9 days last month. Only when I got there did I come to know this is even bigger than the Olympics, with 21,000 athletes and over 84 countries participating.
I entered in the Track @ Field events and came home with 2 bronze medals, the 200m dash and the 80m hurdles. This was in my age group (70-74). This was quite an experience for me as I met several gold medal ex Olympians.
